This contrasts with the current belief that the two boys, sons of Edward IV, were murdered by their uncle Richard III in order to gain access to the throne.
Shakespeare dramatized this theory in Machiavelli’s famous play about the King, in which Richard sends orders for his young relative to be murdered in the Tower of London.
Amateur historian Philippa Langley, who is credited with discovering Richard’s body under a Leicester car park, has revealed a series of “startling discoveries” that support her theory that the princes escaped. Ta. telegraph paper.
She believes that the two boys dismissed as heirs to the throne, Lambert Simnel and Perkin Warbeck, were real princes. Each of these boys launched an unsuccessful attempt to oust Henry VII near the end of the 15th century.
The two princes disappeared from records in 1483 after being taken to the Tower of London.
Human remains discovered at the foot of the tower’s stairs in the 17th century were identified as a prince and transferred to Westminster Abbey. They never took a DNA test.
Langley said documents pulled from European archives show the princes’ escape and subsequent plans to invade England.
One piece of evidence appears to be an eyewitness account by the two princes’ youngest son, Richard, who was nine years old at the time of their disappearance.
In this book, written ten years later, the author recalls being taken from the Tower by Henry and Thomas Percy.
“They shaved my head, put me in a rough, dirty shirt and went to St. Catherine’s Church.” [dock]” the document says.
They are then described as taking a boat to Boulogne-sur-Mer before heading to Portugal.
Experts have proven that this was written during that period.
Another document, dating from 1483, appears to be signed by “Richard, Duke of York,” and states that Richard would pay 30,000 florins to Albert, Duke of Saxony within a few months of ascending the English throne. ing.
