Some school bus routes near the scene of the fire, which closed part of the 10 Freeway near downtown indefinitely, and five Los Angeles school campuses are affected by delays as crews conduct repair work. I will receive it.
Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Superintendent Alberto Carvalho said in a press conference Sunday that schools will remain open Monday and the following day despite the highway closures.
“We are trying to provide some normalcy for our students, not just from an educational perspective, but because many of our students rely on the breakfast and lunch and enrichment activities that we provide due to their socio-economic conditions. ‘We’re going to try to do it’ school system,’ he said. “Keeping all schools open is our top priority.”
He added that parents of students whose bus routes typically pass through the affected areas will be notified about changes to their routes. Service will continue to be provided during the repair period.
Additionally, Carvalho said the district has identified five campuses that will be significantly impacted by the closure. they are:
- Ninth Avenue Elementary School
- 20th Avenue Elementary School
- Metropolitan Continuation High School
- inner city art
- Para Los Niños Charter School
“We anticipate that there will be some delays and that a significant number of students will be affected throughout the day.” [Monday] “This will take several days, possibly weeks, depending on the pace of highway repairs,” the superintendent said.

A fire in the 1700 block of East 14th Street caused the highway to be closed early Saturday morning. The investigation into the fire is ongoing. No injuries were reported related to the fire.
