Nintendo announced a new Mario & Luigi RPG this week, officially titled Mario & Luigi: Brotherhood. As with many of the company’s recent releases, they weren’t ready to reveal the team behind the Switch project, but now we’ve received a small update on it.
Stephen Totilo from Game Files We asked a Nintendo representative who the developers of Brothership are now that AlphaDream has ceased operations, and while they wouldn’t reveal this information, they did say that apparently “some of the original developers who worked on the franchise are involved.”
As Featured by VGCAmong the team members who remained at Nintendo after AlphaDream’s bankruptcy are the company’s former development manager, Hiroyuki Kubota (now at Monolith Soft), and Yoshihiko Maekawa, director and producer of Mario & Luigi, who recently oversaw the Switch version of Super Mario RPG.
As for when the developer of the new Mario & Luigi game will be revealed, a Nintendo rep said fans will just have to wait for “the game credits at release.” Apparently many theories are already circulating online..
Nintendo has been pretty secretive about the developers of certain projects lately, but things don’t always go according to plan. Earlier this week, official documents seemed to reveal that Polish company Forever Entertainment is involved in the development of Donkey Kong Country Returns HD for the Switch.
