Sony may be planning layoffs at various PlayStation studios, including Insomniac Games. The documents found also suggest that “one studio may be closed down.”
Specific information initially communicated KotakuSony’s PlayStation Studios plans were discovered in the documents of a massive ransomware leak targeting Insomniac Games.
Naturally, such harsh measures are more likely to involve underperforming studios. However, the exact studio has not been confirmed at this time, leaving fans to speculate. Some of the key statements from the leaked documents were recently posted on Twitter. @PostUp_SOG.
Sony appears to be aiming to make more widespread layoffs across its studios, cutting at least 50 to 75 jobs at Insomniac. Notably, the document states that “slimming Ratchet and reducing new IP” is not enough to achieve the goal.
This means they may be subject to broader layoffs. This includes Insomniac Games itself, which is already dealing with a ransomware breach.

Some of Insomniac Games’ other upcoming titles were recently leaked as part of a ransomware hack, including a complete timeline of the planned game earlier this week.
There has been a series of devastating layoffs across the industry. This includes layoffs at Unity and his Embracer Group’s various layoffs at studios such as 3D Realms.
It’s a really tough time in the industry. Now that Sony’s plans are clear, we hope Sony makes some official announcements about its approach to layoffs at PlayStation.
