hyderabad: Cybercrime experts have warned mobile users about a new scam in which cyber crooks trick and rob users. In this new scheme, targeted users receive a recorded call from an unknown number informing them that their mobile phone number will be deactivated because it has been linked to criminal activity.
KCS Raghuveer, Superintendent of Police, Cyber Crime and Operations, TS Cyber Security Bureau, said the police had received complaints of such incidents, although not in large numbers.
“The only solution is to block such numbers and not give in to their demands or share personal or financial information. Users should also refrain from clicking on web links from unknown sources. We should be more cautious,” he said.
Raghveer said anyone who receives such a call can report it to the police.
