Quick and easy octopus ring
December is always a busy month for families, so a simple dinner can be a lifesaver. This taco ring is a favorite of ours and has always been ours. So many reasons. First, my family is obsessed with tacos. (So I think even picky eaters will enjoy it!) Second, you just need a few ingredients, and one of his is a wrapped crescent roll.
These taco rings are ready in just 30 minutes from start to finish, making them perfect for busy weeknights. Not only is it quick and easy, it’s also super delicious. The crescent-shaped roll is topped with plenty of seasoned ground beef and Colby Jack cheese, which becomes melty when baked. It’s so easy to pick up that you can enjoy it on its own or with your favorite taco ingredients. My family loves guacamole, sour cream, olives, and chopped tomatoes or pico de gallo.
4 ingredients to make
This taco ring recipe is a favorite in my book because of its short ingredient list. Usually everything is on hand so there is no need to go to the supermarket. (Exact measurements are in the recipe card at the end of the post.)
- Lean ground beef: A hearty base for taco rings. You can also use ground turkey if you prefer.
- Taco seasoning: This includes all the spices you need (chili powder, cumin, etc.) to get that great taco flavor. Buy your favorite packaged variety or make your own.
- packaged crescent rolls: These form a ring around the delicious filling.
- Shredded Colby Jack cheese: Melting, golden deliciousness! I love Colby Jack, but feel free to substitute your favorite cheese. Cheddar, pepper jack, or Mexican blends all work great.
- topping: I mentioned 4 ingredients, but I thought I’d add a few toppings to make the dish even more delicious. Think shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, sour cream, salsa, or other favorites.

- Preheat the oven and prepare the bread. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a large pizza pan or sheet pan with parchment paper and set aside.

- Separate the dough. Open it and roll out the crescent-shaped dough. Divide the dough into individual triangles along the serrated edges.
- Arrange the dough. Arrange the dough in a circle in the prepared pan. Place it with the wide side facing inside the circle and the tip facing outside. Please refer to the process shots.
