I spent the weekend with some of my favorite people on the MSP channel. paco lebron We hold a show every year called TechCON Unplugged. It’s not a big show. No fancy hotels, fancy spas, or super famous keynotes…no, this is a community event. An event created by MSP for MSP, he is one of my favorite events every year.
MSP channels are filled with company-sponsored events where vendors are desperate to get noticed, and the agenda seems to prioritize sales over content. Finding an informal, educational conference can feel like finding a hidden oasis in the desert. I don’t know if New Jersey is an oasis, but the conference was great. TechCON Unplugged departs from the traditional conference circuit and provides an authentic space for learning, collaboration, and community building.
Paco and his colleagues understand the unique challenges faced by MSPs and tailor content and sessions accordingly. They invited speakers who have been in the same shoes as the participants to share real-world experiences and practical insights. Every session was relevant, valuable, and applicable to the daily lives of MSPs.
This experience was a breath of fresh air and demonstrated that there is room for innovation and authenticity in the world of industry gatherings. The informal format and community-driven approach combined to create an event that was both educational and fun. This shows that even in the midst of a huge ecosystem and vendor-driven GTM tactics, there are still places where real connections, meaningful discussions, and shared knowledge can take center stage. It reminded me of.
For me, speaking at the event was a lot of fun. We were able to create our own educational content without vendor pitches. The biggest attraction was the discussion with the audience. They engaged, asked questions, and shared their experiences. Not only were we able to share knowledge, but the entire room was able to interact, ask questions, and help each other learn new skills and knowledge that we could immediately use in our businesses.
