Telenor Cyber Defence has acquired the Norwegian operations of Swedish security company CombiTec to expand its expertise in the field. The deal comes just one month after the company launched its cybersecurity business.
In its announcement, Telenor Cyber Defence described CombiTec as a “great fit” for its new business and said the acquisition marked an “important step” in expanding its cybersecurity services.
The deal also includes the appointment of Thulin Rokke, CEO of CombiTec’s Norwegian operations, as COO of Telenor Cyberdefence.
Telenor Cyber Defence hopes the deal will highlight CombiTec’s “solid expertise” and history in the security business and help it expand its business and customer base in the Nordics, thus providing “a solid basis for considering further investments”.
The transaction value was not disclosed.
Telenor Cyber Defence said CombiTec’s Norwegian branch is based in Oslo and is run by “just over 20 employees”, adding that the acquisition was part of a strategic initiative to strengthen the business.
Combitech will work closely with Telenor Norway’s business units.
“The merger with Telenor Cyberdefence gives us the opportunity to become part of Norway’s leading security environment and contribute to building a stronger position in the market. The threat landscape is constantly changing and we are confident that by working together we can offer our customers even better security services and support,” commented Lökke.
