Universal Orlando Resort has given its first official look at one of five new lands scheduled to open as part of Universal’s Epic Universe Park, and confirmed the themes for three additional lands.

The park’s central immersive facility is Astronomica, an interactive water play area. A collection of crystal blue fountains that come to life around guests, the attraction also acts as a giant compass that orients park attendees to different lands in a spectacular universe. Additional fountain shows, which will reach up to 135 feet in the air and are programmed to sway throughout the day to music and interactive lighting, will be installed throughout the property’s seven acres of water.
The park is home to the Universal Helios Grand Hotel, a 500-room resort located on the edge of the park. With unique views and a private entrance, guests are transported to a place in the world where heaven and earth meet. Universal’s Epic Universe is part of a larger strategy by Universal’s Destinations & Experiences division to increase local week-long vacations. Together, the five lands offer more than 50 attractions, entertainment, dining and shopping experiences. This is the latest of four NBC Universal theme parks currently based in Florida, the other three being Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay.
Universal Destinations & Experiences CEO Mark Woodbury said in September that the park would use “facial recognition, photo verification technology” to support a “frictionless experience.” Announced.
