French battery maker Verkor has secured more than €2 billion (about $2.1 billion) to build the Dunkirk Gigafactory, which is set to become operational. By 2025An initial production capacity of 16 GWh per year.
There is a lot to discuss about gigafactories, the future of batteries, and the green transition. For example, this demand is not only due to electric vehicles. Or what the recycling process might look like. But what struck me most about Verkor’s announcement was its funding source.
