It has been claimed that the next Mass Effect game may not be released until 2029 or later.
BioWare released a teaser for the next Mass Effect game on Tuesday in honor of the annual N7 Day.
However, during the Giant Bomb, Game chaos morning On Wednesday’s show, the site’s Jeff Grubb and Tamoor Hussein both said that sources say the fight is still a long way off.
“Do you want your own report?” Grubb said. “This game is far from release.
“When Dragon Age: Dreadwolf was announced in 2018, I heard that this was similar in terms of timeline. It was announced in 2018, but that game probably won’t be available until next year.
“Okay, let’s do the math. Mass Effect 5 will be in 2029.”
Hussein replied: “I’ve heard some things too, but this match is very far away. We’re far away in another galaxy now.”
Grubb went on to say that, according to his sources, the N7 Day teaser was primarily created to reassure fans that the game was in development, and that the game was coming soon. He claimed that he had not meant it.
“When I asked, it was like, ‘Hey, is this just because we have to do something for N7 Day?'” Yes. That’s all there is to it. ”
BioWare’s attention remains focused on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, but no firm release window has been set yet.
Grubb said in August that the game’s release was being “delayed” internally after discussing what was going on behind the scenes at BioWare with anonymous sources following news that BioWare was making new layoffs. It continues.”
Earlier in the week in August, BioWare general manager Gary McKay said the company would eliminate about 50 roles as part of its “transition to society.” [becoming] A more agile and focused studio. ”
Grubb’s sources say Dragon Age: Dreadwolf was once considered for release in September 2023, but the game continues to be delayed.
The game’s target release window was then changed a while ago to March 2024, but it is now claimed that it will be released “as early as” next summer.
However, Grubb also said that it is “very likely” that the game’s release will be delayed further, “probably” to late next year, possibly early 2025.
