The original God of War trilogy could be getting the remaster treatment.
That’s according to XboxEra’s Nick Baker, who announced at the 4th Annual Grubsmas Specialtacular that he had heard that remasters of the first three God of War games “might be happening.”
“I’ve been somewhat lamenting the direction of God of War for a long time and have admired the OG hack-and-slash God of War games. I just love them,” Baker said. thank you, GG Recon).
“When I told a friend of mine who also loves the OG God of War trilogy that this might become a reality, he was very excited. I heard it might be remastered.
Baker couldn’t give a release schedule, and it wasn’t clear whether the game would be a “straight port of what we got on PS3.” He also believes 2013’s God of War Ascension is not included in the remaster.
“The other thing that’s not clear to me, and I’d like to know more about, is is this a direct port of what we got on PS3? In that case, I’m not too excited. Or is this something more Is it something complicated?”, more in the realm of remakes?
As always, until there’s an official announcement, all we can do for now is chalk it up as a rumor and take it with the proverbial pinch of salt. Either way, we’ll keep you posted.
The original God of War will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2025. God of War 2 and 3 were released in 2007 and 2010 respectively.
Gears of War series creator Cliff Brzezinski has also suggested rebooting the game in the God of War style. All Xbox has to do is call him.
