Tiana’s Palace opened at Disneyland on September 7, 2023.
Disneyland Resort/Christian ThompsonIf you’ve ever dreamed of trying Tiana’s famous gumbo from The Princess and the Frog, you’re almost there. Disneyland opened Tiana’s Her Palace on Thursday. The food is as close to authentic New Orleans cuisine as you’ll find in New Orleans Square (or perhaps anywhere near it).
I went to the media preview on Wednesday. Tiana’s Palace I was able to try several menu items. The new quick-service restaurant replaces French His Market Cafe, which also served Creole and Cajun cuisine, but to me, the food has always been a bit flat. Especially when compared to my memories of great food I’ve had in the past and many trips to New Orleans.

Not only is the food at Tiana’s Palace better than the French Market, it also has some of the best quick service food in the entire Disneyland Resort. The menu starts with beignets, which says “dessert first,” but then followed by braised chicken, andouille sausage, slightly spicy house gumbo served with rice, topped with roasted okra, yams, sweet potatoes and whites. We offer plant-based seven-choice gumbo. Served with beans and rice.
You can also order the Seven Green Gumbo with andouille and chicken. I chose it as my main dish. As I enjoyed the meat, the gumbo easily stood on its own. The dashi-rich salty stew is he one of the best plant-based options I’ve ever had at a theme park.It was inspired by Leah Chase’s Green Gumbo; The pioneering female chef at New Orleans powerhouse Dookie Chase was not only the inspiration for this dish; For Tiana’s own character.

Julie TremaineThe sandwiches were great – the bread was really the star – but the sides of red beans and rice were great too. Entrees are rounded out with Cajun-spiced half chicken, baked mac and cheese with coleslaw, beef po’ boy sandwich with red beans and rice, and Gulf shrimp and grits.

Beignets are also a gem on the menu. At Disneyland, beignets are abundantly served at the Mint Julep Bar and Royal Street Veranda, but Tiana’s Palace beignets are stuffed on the spot with lemon icebox pie fillings and dipped in lemon glaze while you watch. . I’m not going to lie. I was so tempted that I actually listened to the menu and ate dessert first, a Disneyland cold brew twist on traditional New Orleans chicory coffee. I’m a lemon person, so I loved this dessert, but I was really surprised by how delicious it was inside.
The interior of the store pays homage to “The Princess and the Magical Kiss.”
julie tremaineThe interior of the restaurant is beautiful, with water lilies and water lilies playing an important role in the decoration. There’s also a nod to Tiana in the room, including her coat and hat hanging on hooks by the door. From the restaurant’s patio, it wouldn’t be hard to spot the princess greeting the public outside New Orleans Square.
