Google Maps is broadly rolling out a refreshed color palette, and it’s now showing up in Android Auto as well.
Google Maps’ appearance has been updated, replacing the usual warm colors with a new cool color palette. The green used to represent parks and forests became mint, and roads became gray. It’s certainly an improvement in usability, but it’s an unpleasant change.
This change is rolling out broadly across the web, Android, and iOS, and also applies to Android Auto.
In line with changes to the Android app, the app now displays a cooler color palette throughout the map, not just in the main UI. As you can see below, all text, blue navigation lines, and direction cards at the top of the UI have all changed color.

What do you think about the new colors of Google Maps? Personally, I can’t stand this new look…
