The long-running video review series ‘Zero Punctuation’ appears to be coming to an end following a mass exodus of staff from the publication ‘The Escapist’.
On Monday, Zero Punctuation creator Ben ‘Yahtzee’ Croshaw resigned from The Escapist along with the rest of the video team.
The reason for his resignation appears to be the result of The Escapist’s owner Gamurs Group’s decision to fire longtime editor-in-chief Nick Calandra.
Calandra said: “I was fired due to ‘missing targets’ that were never properly set for us and a lack of understanding of the audience and the team that built that audience.” wrote on X (old Twitter).
Calandra later wrote on The Escapist’s Discord server: Our plan is to go independent, and we’ll be sharing more plans on that later this week. ”
Croshaw wrote on X (officially on Twitter): “Today, I have officially resigned from The Escapist and Gamurs. I have no right to zero punctuation, but no matter what happens, you will soon hear my voice again in a new place. It will be.”
