I’m excited to announce the Startup Battlefield 20, promoting TechCrunch Disrupt 2023. Following the huge success of last year, TechCrunch’s editorial selected 200 startups, from thousands of applicants, to make up the Startup Battlefield 200. This year, TechCrunch saw the highest number of applications Across the widest spread of countries and industries. Out of 200, this is the highest 20 companies It will be displayed on the deactivation stage. Come watch these companies compete for the Disrupt Cup and the $100,000 stock-free grand prize.
Disrupt runs Tuesday-Thursday, September 19-21, in San Francisco. The agenda is packed with tech legends, newsmakers, innovators, founders and more. This year, Disrupt is equipped with not two but seven industry stages – Disrupt, Builders, AI, Fintech, Hardware, Sustainability, and Security. Each phase focuses on highlighting the most important news in each industry, with the Build phase focusing on how founders looking to build and scale startups work.
For Startup Battlefield 200, TechCrunch is hosting this curated group of founders at TechCrunch Disrupt, providing special programming and coaching before and during the event. Big companies will follow in the footsteps of Startup Battlefield legends on the Disrupt Stage. With more than 1,300 alumni participating in the program, Startup Battlefield Alumni companies have raised more than $29 billion in funding with nearly 200 successful exits (initial public offerings or acquisitions).
Startup Battlefield 20 companies solve critical technological and global problems. From agricultural labor management tools to fintech platforms, sanitation health trackers, and personalized phage-based therapeutics, this group of startups is ready to impress. The founders are solving critical world problems in the areas of disease cures, blood testing, biodegradable batteries, and even ethical social media platforms for teens. Additionally, it wouldn’t be a TechCrunch event without the developer tools, security infrastructure, and hardware needed to complete the lineup.
Starting today, the top 20 companies will pitch on the Disrupt Stage for six minutes followed by a six-minute Q&A with our panel of expert judges.
