rear After four days of marathon negotiations, the Writers Guild of America could reach an agreement with major film and television studios as early as Sunday. A person familiar with the matter told CNN..
The tentative agreement must be approved by the WGA’s membership, which includes more than 11,000 writers. But if passed, the agreement would end a nearly five-month strike, the second longest in union history.
The actors union SAG-AFTRA has also been on strike since mid-July. Both unions have similar demands, including better wages, back pay for work from streaming services and job protections against the use of artificial intelligence.
If the WGA reaches an agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, a trade group representing major Hollywood studios, SAG-AFTRA could increase pressure to reach an agreement along the same lines.
