The next time you look down the T tracks looking for a train, the train might be looking back at you.
In an effort to bring a little joy to riders, the MBTA has installed moving eye-catchers on five Green Line and commuter rail trains, a spokesperson confirmed Wednesday.
The idea came from a member of the public, a spokesman said, and released several images of optically enhanced train carriages.
The idea was proposed this spring by a group that wanted to add a little fun to commuter travel on the cheap, given the $24.5 billion it would cost to make a functioning transit system.
“From musical performances at stations and narration for children to our ‘Share the Love’ campaign, we are constantly looking for creative ways to enhance the passenger experience. We hope that these initiatives, combined with the dedicated work of our transport ambassadors and the hard work of our staff upgrading our infrastructure, will continue to be a source of community connection and brighten someone’s day.”
