One of the most notable new features in World of Warcraft: Season of Discovery is support for 10-person raids in Blackfathom Deeps, and players are hoping that experience will help them in the upcoming formula.
Endgame raids like Molten Core and Onyxia’s Lair are typically aimed at groups of 40 people in non-seasonal versions of classic World of Warcraft. Successfully completing these activities with 39 other girlfriends is one of the most epic experiences in gaming, but it comes with logistical challenges.

First of all, organizing a group of that size without much use of matching tools would be a much more difficult prospect. Additionally, the amount of time required to run a raid is long, with many people setting aside several hours at a time to complete all runs.
Now, some players are asking for raiding to be a challenge in the first phase of WoW: Season of Discovery and become the norm in future games.

Specifically, players cited the fun they get from reduced group size and increased responsibility as key reasons for their desire to continue with 10-person raids. Another determining factor is the ease of communication in small groups compared to large groups.
Many respondents immediately agreed with the OP’s thoughts. One person said: IMO, smaller raids would fit perfectly into the SOD ethos. In any case, due to power creep, 60-person raids will need to be adjusted. Therefore, you can easily play with 10-20 players. ”

Others argued that a smaller group would help resolve the ongoing issue of carrying out GDKP raids for large amounts of currency. They said: “If you do an endgame raid with 40 people, GDKP will pop up everywhere. For now, you can easily clear content with a few players together. GDKP factions can do it outside of the guild. You’re the only one organizing it. 40 guys kill small groups of friends playing together. Maximum number of players should be 15-20, please. 40 is outdated.”
Whatever Blizzard’s specific plans are for the future of raiding in the later stages of WoW: Season of Discovery, in the spirit of experimentation we’ll likely see further adaptations like Black Fathom Deeps.
