A young British tourist collapsed on a street in the town of Magaluf on the island of Mallorca, just metres from where an Irish father of four was found dead a day earlier.
The man, who was in his early 20s, was rushed to a local hospital by ambulance at 2 a.m. Tuesday.
The 20-year-old was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol as he walked outside Mulligan’s Irish Pub, located in the popular resort of Punta Pelena.
He was quickly placed on a stretcher and taken away for medical attention, while partygoers in the area continued their drunken antics late into the night.
Just 24 hours earlier, Michael Grant, an Irish father and youth football coach, was found dead in the middle of a nearby street.
Police initially believed Grant, who was on holiday with his wife Lynn and at least two of their four children, died of natural causes, the Ultima Hora newspaper reported.
However, wounds to his leg discovered by the coroner suggest he may have been hit by a car.
Investigators are now awaiting the results of a full post-mortem to confirm whether initial suspicions that the Waterford physiotherapist died of a heart attack are correct, or whether the cause was something more sinister.
The latest developments:
Grant, a father of four, died just 24 hours earlier in the same area.

Grant reportedly took a wrong turn and became separated from the rest of his group after enjoying a few drinks at his hotel before heading out for the night.
A source close to the ongoing investigation said: “The initial suggestion was that this man’s death may have been linked to what he had consumed before he died.
But the initial examination of his body before the full autopsy raised some surprises and worried investigators.
“The injuries to Grant’s leg are consistent with being hit by a car.
“These conditions did not appear to be life-threatening, but they opened the door to the possibility that his death was not an accident.
The young man in his 20s is suspected of suffering from alcohol poisoning after spending a night in a popular tourist area.
