Going to a nail salon is very relaxing. But don’t let dirty tools cloud your mind. A woman puts those concerns to rest by revealing a trick to tell if a nail salon is cleaning its equipment.
Introduced video tick tock User Jessica (@jessica_marierdhap) works as a registered dental hygienist. Now, she has shared a hack that will ‘piss off’ nail technicians. A self-proclaimed clean freak, she didn’t allow her nail technician to “use dirty equipment.”
“I’ll show you how to reach out too,” she told her 11,000 followers. “And how to avoid toenail fungus when going to the nail salon.”
The video then cut and she showed off the instrument sealed inside a transparent package. “So a lot of them think that if it’s in there, it’s like they’ve sanitized it. It’s not,” Jessica said. She said it wasn’t sterile because she had a red dot in the top right corner which meant it was “dirty”.
She then revealed a clean instrument with a black dot in the same spot on the package. “Black means cleanliness. Red means dirty,” she explained. If a nail technician pulls out a package with a red dot on it, the content creator urged her followers to “run away.” Jessica ended the video by asking viewers to spread the word.
Jessica reiterated this in her caption. “Do you go to the nail salon?!” Do you know if your instrument is clean? Let me know in the comments am I the only one seeing this? ”
The Daily Dot reached out to Jessica through TikTok comments and direct messages. The video racked up more than 834,000 views for him and left viewers confused as to why some nail technicians don’t clean their tools.
“I don’t understand why it’s so difficult for nail technicians just to clean their tools. Like, what’s the big deal?
“I don’t understand why they don’t tighten regulations,” said another.

“I don’t even take it out of the package!” said one viewer.
“It’s not me who has six infections on my ring finger. [getting] “Disconnected from dip powder because we mutually share the powder and nail file,” a second shared.
“I stopped going when I realized that the same nail polish bottle and brush I had chosen would walk through about 100 more fingers to get to me,” a third person recalled.
