The YouTube Music app recently redesigned its Now Playing screen, and the most notable update is the new comments section, which allows users to read and write comments directly from the app. The latest upgrade also includes easier-to-reach buttons, larger cover graphics, and more.
The redesign is rolling out to iOS and Android devices today, according to a company spokesperson.
As spotted 9to5GoogleYouTube Music has launched a new comments button that displays existing comments from the official music video on YouTube. Users can also write whatever they want, adding a more engaging social element to the app.
The comment button is located below the cover photo. When the user selects the button, the panel slides up on the screen.
Next to the comments are icons like/dislike, save, share, download, and radio, which were previously hidden and can only be accessed when users tap on the album cover. Moving the buttons below the song title makes it easier to access.
Another small change is that song/video switching is now white instead of matching the background color.
The redesign comes on the heels of the launch of “Samples,” a new TikTok-style personalized short-form video feed on YouTube Music that features YouTube’s catalog of official music videos as well as live footage.
