Following the news that Google Podcasts will be shutting down next year, YouTube Music now has the ability to automatically download podcasts.
To enable it, visit the show page, tap the new settings gear icon and “Save/d to Library.” This results in[自動ダウンロードをオンにする]A button will slide up and the latest episode will be instantly downloaded to your device for offline listening.
Currently, episodes that you have finished listening to are not automatically deleted. It’s possible that files are deleted after a new episode is available or downloaded, or after a set amount of time, such as a full day, but we can’t test that yet.
At this time, there is no auto-delete setting, which is a staple of other clients. For example, Google Podcasts has a “Delete completed episodes” setting that allows you to specify increments such as after 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or 90 days. The app also provides a “delete unfinished episodes” control.
Auto-download works on a per-show (and per-device) basis, so it must be enabled individually. Google Podcasts has a dedicated automatic download page to quickly turn downloads on and off. On YouTube Music,[ライブラリ]Tab >[ポッドキャスト フィルター]>[ダウンロード済み]and manage them using separate overflow menus.
YouTube Music version 6.21 introduces automatic podcast downloads. android and iOS.
A big feature that many people are looking forward to is subscribing via RSS. This will make YouTube Music an easy podcast player that doesn’t require shows to create and upload a video version first, but Google is also working on automated flows. We hope to see the former soon as well.
