JOHNSON COUNTY, Ark. – Drivers heading west on Interstate 40 in Johnson County experienced significant traffic congestion Friday morning due to a crash near Clarksville.
The Arkansas Department of Transportation reported the accident at milepost 57.9 just before 7 a.m., closing all westbound lanes, and as of 8:15 a.m., traffic was still completely backed up for at least a mile.
Traffic began moving again around 9am after the accident scene was closed off.
Authorities reported it as a rollover accident and at least one person was injured at the scene, though no information was released about the extent of the injuries or whether there were multiple people injured.
Westbound lanes near the accident scene and detour (mile marker 58) have reopened.
